Really cool retro café with a unique atmosphere. A lot of elderly locals are spending their time inside the café. Every drink and meal on the menu is very cheap.

shelter for Buda-side intellectuals, strong since the 1960s, maintained both the same atmosphere and the same interior design ever since. breakfast is irresistibly great, you can order it all day
this isn't retro, this is the real thing. go for the socialist experience, order a fröccs on the terrace in the summer. mega fast service and authentic feels.

A vintage café with a history dating back to the sixtie. Satisfy your hunger while being surrounded by brainy intellectuals and an interior that hasn't been tinkered with for decades.
When the communists were ousted, thank god this baby was not thrown out with the bathwater. London has lost so many places like this to high rents and lack of succession and is all the poorer for it. Take a step back in time and have a few beers here. It's a thing of great joy.

We stumbled upon this bar cafe as it was only a couple of streets from our boat hotel. We ended up spending every evening there! It seems very much unchanged from eastern bloc days in the interior and exterior which was actually really good compared to some of the weird and wonderful modern tourist bars and restaurants. Staff didn't speak much english but easy enough to order from the drink and snack menu. Packed in the evenings with locals chatting and enjoying tea, coffee, beer, wine and snacks. We loved the toasties (about £1)... Glass of red wine about 80p, pint about £1! We had several of each......

Loved the views from the terrace to Pest. The inside is kind of a time travel (in the best possible sense) to the '60s. Yummy toasties and coffee.

A simple little cafe but a real treat, really cheap, very traditional and lovely food. We visited twice as it was so good. The beer, wine and fizz were very cheap.
Would recommend for tourists
