I have visited the restaurant with my hubby several times already, and we always loved the food. My two all time favorites are the Chicken Korma and the Chicken Jalfrezi. We have never had problems with the service so far. I recommend this place if you like Indian cousine.

Loved it! Great location, very cute waiter staff and the food was amazing, I highly recommend if you want to try something special.

Initially, I wanted to hate this restaurant. Although barely busy ( no customers sitting inside and outside just a handful outside in the Autumn sunshine ), a grumpy Hungarian waitress inside, whom I encountered when in search of a menu, told me that a meal would take " an hour to an hour and a half". We decided to leave but thanks to Bart, the customer service manager, we stayed. We were glad we did and our Nepali meal took just 15 minutes, as he promised. He told us that the waiter staff were being replaced and a good thing too as the food and location of this restaurant is good: in summer you are a few steps away from the Danube, in winter the cosy glassed-in the outdoor eating area gives you warmth but still a river view.
Afterwards, Bart introduced us to the cheerful Indian chefs in the basement kitchen, and if he can improve the waitressing, then this is certainly a restaurant I would return to (apologies to Hungarian friends but poor quality service is far from unknown in Hungary and the " don't care/don't want to be here/ think I am far too superior to be doing this " attitude seems especially prominent amongst some service staff in Szentendre on weekends, when the small town is certainly busy with day visitors from Budapest ). Good luck to Bart and thanks to the chefs for a good meal.

We went to have dinner at the Maharaja again after more than one year. The location is excellent, at the Danube river, but all the tables in the 'glass house' were reserved, so we sat inside. The inside has a warm nice atmosphere. We had an Indian curry (chicken and lamb) and both were excellent and very tasty once more. Our young (and Hungarian) waitress was very friendly and spoke good English.
I totally recommend this place!

Maharaja Restaurant is located near Danube River. The seating arrangement is very good. The outside seating is very nice with the view of Danube.
Service: Very good
Ambience: Very good
Food: Taste was good but chicken was not fresh. So 4 star otherwise deserve a 5 star.
Price: Little expensive than average Budapest Indian Restaurant.

I was here today with my Mum and we had such a lovely meal.
The meat was so tender ( lamb Korma) and the samosas were lovely.
The wine was cheap and was so nice we had another glass.
The service was also wonderful.
Lovely view looking over the river too.
The restaurant needs to pay the waiter more. Was a big job on his own, but he was brilliant.

Our Indian dinner was superb. Excellent taste and very tender meat. If somebody complains about lacking service, then this is only because of language difficulties. Personell generally does not speak English well enough. So if they don’t understand, the answer will be ‘no’. Try Google translate, it helps because the people are friendly!
I certainly recommend this pace. It was 32C outside and we were in the aurconditioned glass house, what an excellent idea!

We have been travelling a lot and it's difficult to get Authentic Indian Food outside Asia. In our trip to Budapest we went for a day trip to beautiful Town of Artists - Szentendre and had our lunch at Maharaja. It was excellent, authentic Indian food, great taste highly delighted.
