Traditional hungarian food, delicious, reasonable prices, fun and kind staff except the always grumpy dark haired waitress (2/2 times she was unpleasent, but hey, nothing’s perfect).

Great traditional Hungarian food, huge portions and nice staff.

One of the best kept secrets of old Budapest that is known mainly to locals only. If you want a great dining experience and taste real Hungarian dishes, low cost and great quality, this is the place!

An absolute Hungarian-style at that with “Székely” goulash, rice and meat Bácska-style, comb of rooster with bacon and Wiener snitzel.
Very cosy place with super nice service, great hungarian food, good prices... Couldn't wish for a better place for a NYE dinner for 10ppl :)

We have been to eat here several times during our stay in Budapest and we always try to take something off the daily menu - which you will have to get the waiter to translate, although the standard menu is also provided in English. There are a mix of locals and tourists and the place is very down-to-earth and good value for money. Today I ate beef goulash and my wife had breaded pork with coleslaw - large portions and good. Last week I took a dish off the daily menu, recommended by the waitress, of braised beef with a potato/carrot mash and a rich sauce - if my mind serves me correctly, for around Euro 5.-. It was delicious. The service is good, the waiters/waitress pretty friendly - all-in-all simple and good.

The decor is maybe shabby, little socialist in style, or the leftover of, but the food is authentic "home made".
The service is not that professional, nor is the chef, but if you want taste what people used to eat at home and some still do, this is a good place to try it, you will not be disappointed.
The prices are unbeatable, price/quality is excellent. Good place for lunch.

We ate here twice during a three day visit to Budapest. It was three minutes from our Airbnb room but also just across the street from the Rakoczi Ter (Square) stop on the Metro line 4 and one block from the 4-6 tram line. Both times the food was very good and reasonably priced. Fortunately, the menu is translated into English and the waitress spoke English, a huge help in Hungary. I had a stuffed pork dish the first night and veal stuffed with bacon the next. My wife asked for a typical Hungarian dish and the waitress recommended, what else?, goulash soup. She was very friendly and helpful. It was busy, but we were seated immediately both nights without reservations. We were lucky to have booked a room so close to the Rakoczi Restaurant
