We picked this restaurant because of the violinist and cembalon player, and were not disappointed. Great mix of gypsy, operetta and popular and classic. I had a great goose leg with amazing mash potatoes and red cabbage. I have to say my wife was disappointed umwirble her chicken, finding it overdone and dry. The cafe is intimate and the service, with a shout out to Sorel, was terrific!

Rosé Restaurant is a beautiful little restaurant right in the middle of District VII (Erzsébetváros). When I walked in the door I immediately felt like I stepped back in time to the 1930's or 40's. They had beautiful live Gypsy Music which was a nice touch. The Goulash with egg dumplings (like German Spaetzle) were top notch. It was very reasonably priced and I have no doubt that I will visit again the next time I'm in Budapest.

I am getting tired of the constant rip offs in Budapest. I don’t mind paying for service but I hate 15% added to the bill when service is poor. Food is pretty good. We were the first to arrive. We heard the kitchen bell ding when our entree was ready. Nobody did anything. After 5 minutes (we counted) there was a second ding and finally the staff went to fetch our order while the chef went out the front to smoke. (Never a good sign in my humble opinion.) Our bottle of rose was left on the table, no ice bucket. Mains were good. No complaints with the food. All through this time the musicians chatted with other staff, drank, smoked out the front, then finally as we were about to leave they began to play. And you charge 15% surcharge for service? The food was good, but definitely not the best in Budapest but the price was the highest we paid by far. Not recommended on this basis.

I organized a business dinner for 25 people here and it was great! They reserved the whole place for us so we had our own private dinner party. The food was good, the waiters were very friendly and we definitely had a great time.

We stopped here on a whim for lunch without a reservation and were seated quickly. Friendly and efficient service all the way through. Restaurant is cozy and they had a real mixed bag of 80s music playing. We ordered the Hungarian starter plate for 2 (meats and bread and a spicy spread along with a salad), overall pretty average. The mains were stellar though: the chicken paprikash with egg dumplings was lovely: mellow flavors and lots of tender chicken. The pork leg with potatoes and vegetables was a real big hitter: lots of succulent pork (still on the bone) and veg with potatoes, very rich and very yummy. We also had a side of pickled cucumbers in sour cream, which was a great accompaniment to the pork leg. Overall we were pleasantly surprised. Defo worth a go.
