The cuisine is close to Ukrainian, but not the same. The staff does not know Ukrainian and communicates exclusively Russian.

Best borscht in Budapest. And everything else is amazing ;-)
If you want to eat some great food, Ukrainian food, then this is the place you must come. Very delicious food and very kind serving. Definitely recommended for everyone.

I don’t understand the good reviews. Awful food bad service and expensive. We ordered two different traditional Ukrainian food. One was burned (meat pyrizhky) the other was raw (potato pancakes with a sauce of forest mushroom and cream). The food was served with a kind of salad looked like leftover on the plate. The mushroom sauce was inedible and disgusting. We couldn’t sit outside because all the tables were reserved though during our long stay only one table was occupied. What a trick!

Very nice and cozy Ukrainian restaurant. Authentic Ukrainian food. Very delicious! Big portions. If you want to try a real Ukrainian kitchen - this is the place!

Dishes are large and the value proposition is excellent. We could not eat what we have ordered because the portions were large. Its infrastructure is very good, e.g. bathrooms are clean.

This is a nice and recommendable restaurant. Staff is friendly and good-quality dishes are served. The food is definitely not for losing weight, our dishes were fried or served with plenty of sour cream. Their Ukrainian compote was outstanding. A tasty experience!

Tiny place with traditional Ukrainian food. Delicious specialities, nice host and waitresses. Great meals in fair prices.

Budapest’s only Ukrainian restaurant, on the 9th District’s pedestrianised Raday utca. Attractively folkloric. Very good meat and cabbage piroshki. Also good herring and potatoes and stuffed cabbage. The wines can be ferociously expensive - someone else was in charge of the ordering, and we were charged HUF 32,000 (A$160) for two bottles. The bill for four together with beer and mineral water was HUF 51,160 (A$255).

Ukranian food is very very tasty if it is made with care and an attention to authenticity. I am glad to say that I've always felt this at Ukranian Courtyard.
I can only recommend this place.

I was so curious to try something different and happened upon Ukran. The restaurant is fairly new, clean and comfortable. The service was excellent and the food was served promptly.
As for the food, well, we ordered quite a bit because all the dishes were so interesting. We had 2 different types of Ukrainian soups, both excellent. We had about 4 different appetizers and all excellent as with the main courses and desserts.
And the bill was very reasonable for the amount of food we ate. We will definitely go back again.

While visiting Budapest we decided to try some Ukrainian Borscht. My great grandparents were from Germany before migrating to Ukraine and then the US. This recipe has stood the test as time as the flavor is the same as we had in Oklahoma at family gatherings. Great price, great food, very friendly and welcoming hosts. Thanks so much.

Having been in Ukraine a few times I was interested to try this place. The dishes we had all lived up to expectations. The Borsch is served with a little side of Salo which is perfect for getting a taste but not filling yourself up. Portions are generous but not excessive. The beer on tap is Hungarian not Ukrainian which is a pity. I think they could also have some softer lighting and change the layout a bit to make it feel a bit more intimate. Will definitely be back.

We each had the borscht soup which came with sour cream, lard and rye bread. Soup was excellent. The lard is thinly sliced rather than a pate or spread (like Poland) and we did not like it as much. We also split the potato pancakes with mushroom sauce and it was delicious. It was plenty of food! Looking at others I can confirm the portions were generous. Wpuld probably gone back if we had more time.

I visited this restaurant since I reviewed the menu and couldn't make up my mind on what to try first. I went with the waiter's suggestion and their soup and pork knuckles. The meat did not need a knife, it was so tender. And the size could easily feed too. All accompanied with a selection of sauces to go with potatoes, meet and cooked cabbage. Top it off with live jazz music from the place next door and you have a great outdoor dinner experience. Try it!

Amazing, fresh and delicious. Very friendly and accommodating service. My first to try Ukrainian food, the pork was delicious and succulent. Mushroom soup, potatoes and sauerkraut were also delicious. This was my best meal in Budapest so far after a week!

Visited this place with my husband for a dinner. Food was very fresh, homemade and authentic. It reminded me of my childhood food and I couldn't be happier! Staff was very polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a comfort Eastern European food.

This was my first experience with Ukrainian food and it was amazing. The pork and veal galushkas are to die for, and the portion is pretty big. I also got the mashed potatoes, they’re served with homemade butter and are incredibly creaming. I would definitely recommend this place, it’s not too expensive and it has a nice atmosphere.

A Ukrainian friend mentioned this was a new place and when I had some visitors who were craving something different...
The food was good and fresh and based on my best knowledge authentically Ukrainian...the portions are huge so don't order to much like we did...if you don't know anything about the Ukrainian food, the menu has a photo for every dish and the waiter is super helpful and speaks English and Russia (and I assume Ukrainian).
It would have been nice to have some Ukrainian wine and beer on the menu but unfortunately they don't have it. They do, however, have Kvas which is a common and favorite soft summer drink of both Russians and Ukrainians...
The total bill for two people with starters, mains, beer and soft drinks is between 10-13K HUF. When we were there, 10% service fee was not included in the bill so do tip your waiter.
I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for something different to try in Budapest.

We had a great dinner there. Food was very good, the service is very kind and quick. Great place for dinner.

I loved everything about that place: decoration, food and drinks. In order to create a genuine Ukrainian atmosphere, owners took care of such important details as napkins and tablecloth decorated with traditional embroidery =)) They managed to materialise everyday homemade Ukrainian food into stylish delicious dishes. Having pictures that represent the meal in menu is super great idea. Even the casual approach of the waitor reminded me of my motherland =)))

I was with my local Hungarian friend and she noticed that this was new. So we thought we would give it a go. The decor is lovely and fresh and people very friendly and speak some English. We had mushroom potato pancakes which were delicious to start. My husband had the pea and ham soup, not traditional but delicious. Then had the sausages with a yummy tomato chutney, husband had the paprika cabbage rolls and me the pork rolled with pickled cucumber, mine could have done with a bit of a sauce, but all was tasty. Wine selection smallest but adequate. Toilets also lovely and clean. Reasonable pricing, nice to be able to sit outside. Had some great live music coming from the next door restaurant that we got to enjoy. Definitely recommend.

We visited this place by recommendation from our friend and we weren’t disappointed! Great atmospheric place with outstanding cuisine for reasonable price! Place is situated 10 min walk from city center, in a quiet residential area.
Really recommend to try “borsch”, “shuba” and “syrnyk” - you will love it!

Great place with high quality food! Nice for kids! Healthy and delicious! Visited with my family and our friends. Kids preferred pancakes with cherry and borsch, I chose some salad and shrimps, my husband ate galushka and mushroom soup. Will return there again! Strongly recommend!
