Average restaurant with big portions. Recommend the hortobagy meat pancakes starter, they are very good. Average goulash. Good beer.

Delicious cheese soup in a tasty loaf! Schnitzel and Franc Jozef's favourite are definitely worth trying :) The serving is adorable. Don't trust the foursquare rating here - it's much better! :)

Baráti társasággal foglaltunk asztalt előre. Az ételek ízével nem volt probléma, viszont a felszolgálás gyorsasága elég lassúnak ítélem meg. Nem volt nagy tömeg, rajtunk kívül 2 asztal volt 2-2 fővel. 1 órát vártunk legalább fogásonként. 3 órát nem szerettünk volna itt tölteni...

Galéria látogatás után kerestünk egy helyet a belvárosban, ahol megvacsorázhatunk. Találomra nyitottuk be a Ferenc József sörözőbe. Jó választásnak bizonyult. A dekoráció, a berendezés rendkívül hangulatos, a személyzet kedves. Az étel választék teljesen megfelelő, mint ahogy a minőség is. A Nagymező utcai elhelyezkedés ellenére az árak nem kirívóak.

Az étterem a Nagymező utcában található, ami környéken számos más étterem is üzemel. Az étterem autóval és tömegközlekedéssel egyaránt megközelíthető. Parkolás lehetséges az utcában, de csekély számú parkolóhely áll rendelkezésre. Az étteremben főként kisebb asztalok találhatóak, a 2-4 személyes étkezések biztosíthatóak főleg. Napi/heti menü nem volt feltüntetve az étlapon. Az étteremben a felszolgálás kedves és átlagos gyorsaságú. Az ételek mennyisége kiadós, íze és minősége kifejezetten jó. Az étel választék széles. Kapható szárnyas, sertés, marha, hal és vad hús egyaránt. Az étteremben tisztasági probléma nem volt. Az árak átlagosak, arányosak. A hely alkalmas munka ebéd vagy csendes elbeszélgetés folytatására.

We found Ferencz Jozsef by chance on a quiet Monday night. The restaurant interior is rustic, cosy and well, staff were friendly and spoke good English. Food was amazing. I had the Hungarian beef stew, which was rich, flavoursome and hearty. My husband had the pork medallions which he said was excellent. Ferencz Jozsef was a real find and we had one of the best meals of our four day trip. Thank you.

Good traditional food. We had to wait a while for the food but we were told it would be a while before we ordered. The dumplings were a bit bland but apart from that, very good and reasonably priced. Nice decor and traditional feel.

Our family chanced upon this nice restaurant and ended up having 5 nights of dinner in a row. Excellent Hungarian cuisine especially the Goulash soup and beef goulash. Deserts are so yummy too. The hosts were very friendly and noted our likes and tastes.

we had dinner here, wasn't too packed. we had chicken paprikash (paprikás csirke) and Hungarian sponge cake (somlói galuska). both dishes were very tasty and enjoyable. staff were friendly and service was great.

This is a small, quaint neighborhood restaurant that serves excellent food. In you’re in the neighborhood, this is a great place to sit outside and watch people go by or sit inside and enjoy it’s old world feel. The restaurant serves primarily local cuisine. Nothing fancy. Traditional recipes, prepared well.

This place looked great but I agree the service was mediocre and I didn't feel comfortable there. The most disappointing thing was the beer which was the weakest Pilsner I ve tasted in Budapest. We were given the bill but not itemised what we d had and waiter stood over us till we paid, it seemed about right but not good practice.

We had our last meal in Hungary at this great little place and are so happy we did! It was right under our Air BnB and served excellent local fare. Highly recommend the goulash!

This restaurant was recommended by my local host. The goulash was quite tasty, although the meat was a little tough. The dumplings were okay. The reason I recommend this restaurant is because the prices, for what you get, are exceptionally good. This meal was the equivalent of C$12 or about $10 USD.

We stumbled on this restaurant by accident while walking around and getting our bearings on our first few hours in Budapest, and it was just what we needed ! The service, food and wine was all perfect in this cute room covered in antique pictures and artifacts etc... It was very good value for money and comes highly recommended for anyone searching for Hungarian cuisine.

Just randomly tried this small pub style restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The goulash with noodles and pork cutlets gypsy style were excellent. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and reasonable prices all contributed to a very enjoyable meal.

I stopped in for lunch on a cold grey day. The atmosphere is cozy and old world. Loved the decor. I had the fried camembert with roasted apple and cranberry sause. Very nice. Recommended.

A happy surprise when we found our first choice temporarily closed. The fried goose liver with poached apples for just over $10 was terrific! The goulash was very good, and the other menu items probably the same.
