Great place to eat, I am a coeliac and the entire menu was gluten free. The waitress was super knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone with a gluten free diet
- and also to those that aren’t!

I’m a coeliac vegetarian which is a double struggle, I found this place on a couple of coeliacs Budapest blogs and I thought I’d take my family here, it’s amazing! Such a lovely area and the restaurant is brilliant. The lady knew exactly what she was talking about and asked if there were any other allergies. I felt so safe eating here the food was delicious and my non coeliac family loved eating here too. This is a must visit restaurant to go to in Budapest, loved it!

The waitress was amazing. Very good gluten free food. Gluten free beers available. The place is cozy with different sizes of tables and chairs to have lunch or dinner. Vegetarian options

Very pleasant surprise! Absolutely don’t understand, why it was so empty inside. Very helpful and kind waitress. Fantastic and really big lemonade, delicious burger and it was prepared in no time. Also absolutely fair prices. No 10 % tip automatically included, so I was happy to tip even more. Highly recommend.

Awesome food, perfect service, great understanding of a beer culture. Hope me (meat eater) and my friend (vegan freak) will be back some day🍑

Good place where eat and drink gluten free option! We had our first Hungarian dinner here and we're gone very satisfied

I can’t believe the choice, I have been diagnosed Coeliac since I was 14 and it’s amazing how well this place catered for me. (As well as other places in Budapest compared to the UK) crazy!
Food was amazing (we had the monster and the blue cheese burger) and some lovely beers. (Mine gluten free, pink passion!)
The woman who served us you can tell works very hard and took me seriously, which is nice as not all servers or hosts do.
Definitely a must visit if you’re gluten free! Or even not!

Great place for gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options. Really friendly service and welcoming atmosphere.

Loved it here!! The poor waitress was rushed off her feet but she still made you feel like you were the only people in the place - very attentive and friendly and just genuine. The food was great. Budapest is quite a hard CIty to be a vegetarian in - let alone a vegan or have any allergies. This restaurant catered for my gluten free needs and my friend being a vegan. It was delicious. If we had been in Budapest longer, we would definitely have gone back. Its really reasonable too. Thank you!

This restaurant specialises in gluten free food. Also lots of vegetarian options too. Great service and excellent value for money.

Wow. What can I say. This is the best burger I’ve ever had in my 5 years of being coeliac!! My boyfriend couldn’t tell it was gluten free at all!!
Amazing service and the waitress basically ran the place on her own! She was happy to recommend and spend some time talking to us!
Couldn’t recommend enough. If you’re in Budapest you HAVE TO visit

When you have a gluten intolerance, travelling and finding places to eat can be hard work. The food here was so good! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a burger (and a really good one at that!). My partner isn’t gluten intolerant but he also thought it was one of the best burgers he’s had. This place also stocks quite a few gluten free beer options.
It’s worth noting that the lady that served us here (twice) was really knowledgeable about the food and the beers and was really polite and friendly which often isn’t the case in Budapest. I would definitely come back here.
The only point of potential improvement would be to create a little more ambience with music throughout the restaurant.

Me and my friend went here for dinner during our stay in Budapest. My friend is gluten intollerant and I have a long list of things I cannot eat, plus I'm a pescetarian. I always struggle with finding something to eat, and have to settle with something plain and tasteless. The waitress at Monkeys is a wonderful woman who really made us feel like home, and both she and the chef knows a lot about different allergies (probably more than myself) and we could both be totally safe. They were so helpful and discussed what I could eat and gave me some options to choose from. We had such a great time there and the food was amazing, and for the first time in two years I could have dessert in a restaurant (awesome pamcakes!) We've been travelling for over a month and this was the first time we went back to the same place twice. The other night was just as great, we had to wait a little longer for our food but that was no problem since we were informed about that when we ordered. If you're a vegan, have any allergies, or you're just a person who loves food (so basically everyone) PLEASE don't miss this place!

Amazing service, many amazing options for vegans. The tofu burger is highly recommended, great drinks (especially beer) menu as well:))

Amazing restaurant, with a rich menu suitable for a lot of dietary restrictions, caring and understanding service, everything is gluten free and delicious.
Even the vegan options are so good.
Would recommend to everyone, even without any dietary restrictions!

We ate here the first time guided by good internet reviews. The place was more than we expected, that’s why we ate there as many times as we could. The service was friendly and attentive. Gluten-free food was delicious and I recommend this place to everyone, not only to people affected by celiac disease. Great quality-price ratio!

Being celiac, eating at a 100% gluten free restaurant gave me such peace of mind! Everything was delicious and we both had more than enough to eat - my husband couldn't even tell that the hotdog bun was gluten free (the weiner itself was normal store bought type), and came with a side of nachos and homemade salsa. I had an apple-mint-ginger smoothie, AMAZING cream of broccoli soup (and can never go wrong with entire pieces of bacon in it), and Vietnamese rolls (more spicy than anticipated - my lips were burning!). We were so full we took an apple cinnamon pancake to go for dessert, it hit the spot later that evening :) . Definitely recommend even if you don't have dietary requirements, but if you do there are plenty of vegan, vegetarian, dairy free choices on the menu as well. Very nice, unobstrusive, and polite service. Nice decor, comfortable seating, nice background music. Will definitely be back next time we visit Budapest!

Ended up here first evening in Budapest, ready for some dinner. Menu is plentyful, and while I find the food average, the wine dissapointed me. Even more dissapointing, was the waiters respons when complaining.
We were told that Hungarian red wine taste different then other red wines. However, the wine we got (recommended), was so foul tasting that is seemd spoiled somehow. We could not drink it. We asked the waiter if it might be spoiled, thinking he might try it. The resposnse were a short "hungarian wine do taste different, and that's the way it is."
We tasted more hungarian winea later during our stay, and none tasted as bad as the one we got at Monkeys Cafe & Bar. I still suspect it was spoiled, and I am sure the waiter should have tried it, before telling us it is supposed to be like that. Such response shows a missing proffessional attitude.

We found this gem after having a beer in the place opposite. An amazing selection of food and Belgian beer which caters for all dietary requirements, and as my girlfriend is vegan this was perfect.
I can highly recommend the zucchini ravioli with homemade salsa to start and the vegan pad thai. Both 10/10!

I am always impressed when I find real quality food, but my experience at Monkey's was out of this world.
We went there with my wife who's coeliac while I'm vegan. We are both thrilled about the explosion of allergy and health conscious eateries in Budapest and wanted to try out Monkey's for dinner. We had a number of courses and they were all really good, but I am writing this review to tell you how my mind was completely blown away by the tofu steak I had. I sat over it literally for an hour taking small bites at a time savouring every little chunk trying to stay in that moment forever. Vegan or not, you really shouldn't reincarnate without trying this dish!

Love the food. They offer gluten free beer too and are experienced with food allergies. I had an excellent meal - duck cooked perfectly!

Found the place late at night and lucky for our big, hungry group they had room for us in their nice gallery. The menu is long with something for everyone. Meat, great vegetarian and vegan burgers and sausages, nice starters and even thai food. The service was great and they explained all the options (egg free, gluten free, dairy free cheese and so on) on the menu. Totally awesome.
My only complaint is that there weren't any fries with the burgers but plain nachos instead.

We were a big group of friends who Went here. They really have something for everyone; for meateaters, vegetarians, vegan and glutenfree. Service was perfect, so friendly and gave great information about the food and made sure everyone got the food as they wanted it.
