Igazi ékszerdoboz a hely.

A feleségemmel minden évben itt ünnepeljük az évfordulónkat egy finom vacsorával. Most is különlegességeket rendeltünk, lazacot és bárányt ettünk. Minden bőséges és jóízű volt és a kiszolgálás is nagyon kedves volt! Természetesen jövőre is visszatérünk! :)

Thank you so much, Edgar. I met you twice and hope for more! Your duck with raspberries (!!!!!) Has become my passion! 🥰
Also, I was offered delicious local wines, palinka and types of beer.
Overall, quality of service was on very high level.
All these cost... average price, I think, afetr my comment they will raise price tag)))
Pictures: duck liver on bread with clear butter, strawberries and blueberries, duck breast (ask for medium rare) with raspberries, strawberries, stewed red cabbage, potato gnocchi and blueberry jelly, grilled salmon fillets with seasonal vegetables and balsamic dressing.
P.S.: who I need to kill to try all these again?!!!!!😮👍

Found this dining gem on our last night. Don’t let the faux English pub decor fool you this place deserves the word “gastro” in its name. The menu is small but everything we ordered was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. We didn’t order a starter but were presented with a small tasting of deer stew which definitely whetted our appetite and certainly created a sense of excitement for our main courses. The beef steak with green peppercorn sauce was fantastic, the saddle of deer with blue berry sauce was WOW and the king crab with piquant sauce and asparagus was PERFECTION and I use capitalised letters to communicate our enjoyment of a wonderful meal. Let’s not forget the drinks, all perfectly served and gorgeous dry white Hungarian wine. Attentive and friendly service and short walk from the Basilica, definitely worth finding and enjoy.

On one evening we went to this pub after we ate in a very cute little restaurant near to this pub.
The first time we went to this pzb, we were pleased by the irish atmosphere and the nice old guy who made a good service.
We told us they were offering good deer dishes.
We drank there some beers, there were not do much guests but it was a calm and good atmosphere. He offered us good bread.
We planed the following evening to eat there too. I got *spicy prawns with thai vegetables*, well they weren't spicy and half of the vegetables were very cold(like they were directly coming out of the fridge).
My boyfriend had a steak. He found it good.
This time, we didn't get bread, so I had to ask for it.
I think the pub is ok for drinking dome beers. But if I compare the other restaurants we ate at Budapest with this one, I have to say that I was quite disappointed.....

Very nice personel, food & beer. Dishes with deer, e.g. goulash. Small restaurant but worty a visit.

We saw this place on our first night but on seeing the Guinness signs outside thought it was likely to be the usual clichéd Irish bar.
Big mistake
The place is like an olde worlde pub, spotlessly clean. The menu is great with a great choice of local food. We chose a Wiener Schnitzel (massive) and the peppered pork fillet.
Couldn't fault either dish at all.
Washed down with a couple of DAB beers (my only complaint was that they had no local draught beer)
Very reasonably priced and friendly - go there.

What an absolute gem! We stumbled across this wee bar after visiting St Stephans Basilica. Rich, cosy setting with a welcoming host.
The furnishings are clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed a fine coffee and Palinka.
Find it if you're looking for a quiet place to stop in the city centre.
Excellent!

A hidden gem in the city! It is next to the Metro station where the trolley stops.
You can have here the biggest sortiment of quality whiskeys of Budapest! Nevertheless food is extra. Venision is the the mainstreem, but if you wanna have good steak or Hungarian meat dishes, you will be satisfied. And it really worth the price. The owner is cared about our choice personally. We tried lamb and veal - it was so smooth and tasty. The restaurant was a John Bull previously. The inner atmoshere is cosy, you can feel yourself at home. Well recommended! ;)

This place is so nice, a tiny little restaurant almost hidden but worth discovering! The food was amazing and the staff was just as nice! If you want to treat yourself to an amazing meal then this is the place the staff gave us some free food and dessert also!
Find this place and go!

The review titled "The Typical Haunt" is spot-on accurate. Vadász Ētterem's interior is stylish, classy, and super-super cozy, with a color scheme consisting of dark reds, gold, cream, and the classic dark woods. The menu is superb, and I’ll elaborate on it a bit more below. I don't know whether to call this place a pub or a restaurant. As almost none of the upscale places that I attended in Budapest had bars at which customers could "belly up", drink, and/or eat, I would tend to call Vadász a pub. But, the sit-down dining was classy and sophisticated, making me want to call this place a restaurant. I think that I'll call it a pub/restaurant.
Vadász Ētterem is hard to spot ... the window curtains obscure most of the view inward and the venue’s signage is nearly invisible (a little 0.3x0.3-meter plaque on the wall aside the door). The storefront likely doesn't get a lot of foot traffic, as it is located one block off from Bajscy-Zsilinszky ... across a concrete terrace that contains the portal to the Arany János Utca subway stop.
Fellow travelers, this restaurant is a HIDDEN GEM!
If you love the idea of wandering the streets on an arbitrary, quiet night and looking through windows until you spot a place that looks to have a really nice ambience and are brave enough to venture in without knowing much about the place, then you'll love Vadász. In my case, I was meandering alone on a quiet, cold, drizzly, late-December night and what caught my attention was an unlit Guinness sign hanging above the door. I decided to enter, as the interior looked extremely cozy. I was thinking that – at minimum – I could sit on a comfy' barstool for an hour and enjoy a pint or two. I ended up staying for four hours, enjoying three pints, a shot of pálinka (local fruit brandy), and a succulent, substantial meal.
My review title says "obviously a hidden gem" -- I write this because the small number of reviews and the relatively low ranking for this restaurant simply suggest that not many people have found it yet. That this wonderful little pub/restaurant’s rank is in the thousands on this website just blows my mind. Maybe this obscurity is a good thing. Vadász Ētterem is top-notch!
Vadász has a very comfortable, local, small-restaurant charm. The venue is small, with perhaps only a dozen tables, so to befriend your servers and bartender is almost inevitable. On the late-December night when I visited, the crowd consisted of a trio of distinct older men (regular customers), a quartet of 30-something hipsters (who have been getting together weekly at Vadász for over a decade), a pair of traveling couples enjoying romance, a mother and daughter from London, and a few other random souls like myself.
The menu is superb, with lots of local dishes and a heavy emphasis on meats. The pub also has Guinness on tap ... a nice diversion from Budapest’s usual selection of Bohemian beers – a couple of pints were a wonderful treat to go with my robber steak on a cold winter night.
The menu appears to be updated weekly, if not daily, and it contains a personal message from the chef, offering to hand-craft a meal if you simply tell her your preferred tastes. Service is top-notch, high-class ... yet at the same time informal and friendly because of the smallness of the venue.
Prices are perfectly reasonable for the quality of food, service, and ambience that you'll enjoy while there.
Please go enjoy this wonderful little haunt. The excellent food, the friendly clientele, and the superb staff will make you never want to leave!

(Please note: In certain travel websites, this place's title contains the words "sports bar". It's not even remotely close to the American definition of a sports bar. The sports consisted first of some alpine skiing and then of a series of dart matches. The events were projected onto some white space high up on a wall near the ceiling – a nice, entertaining touch, for sure, but hardly meeting my understanding of a sports bar. Just to be clear, I intend for this paragraph to be a favorable comment, so to be sure that nobody (particularly, any American) is otherwise deterred by potentially seeing “sports bar” in the venue’s title. Vadász is a cozy, quaint, little neighborhood pub/restaurant ... with a healthy dose of classiness in its food and service … and just a subtle inclusion of televised sporting events into the ambience.
(Also, please note: I am 93% certain that one of the reviews below – the one written in what I believe is Portuguese – isn't about Vadász Ētterem in Budapest. Vadász is most definitely not in the middle of some trees in a park.)

This place is the Restaurant with the capital R. Friendly and professional staff, central location, comfortable and stylish interior, brilliant dishes both for a gourmet and a hungry man, wide variety of drinks and spirits, but above all: the real good old restaurant atmosphere you rarely find nowadays...
